Alyson Ash, MA

Clinical Trainee

Hi, I’m Alyson!

“I am out with lanterns, looking for myself.” Emily Dickenson

We all lose things- keys, wallets, our favorite coffee mug, a treasured piece of jewelry. The loss may sting, but we’re able to move on. However, when we lose parts of ourselves, it’s a story of a different caliber. Whether it’s due to trauma, anxiety, addiction, co-dependency, or parenthood, it can be tricky to put your finger on. Enter me, your potential therapist.

Let’s get curious about those stories you’re carrying; most likely, they are heavy, and a part of you is ready to become unburdened. Dare we even say, free? Together, we can move through the layers of your life, explore times, relationships and situations that contain conflict. I’ll meet you where you’re at, and from there, encourage you to identify themes and patterns in your life that are no longer working for you.

With a mix of humor and clarity, I can help you build a road map back to yourself. And when you find you are at home in your body, we can continue to do the work of cultivating a thriving life. Whatever that looks like for YOU!

I work with individuals, couples, and families, in whatever iteration you wish to bring to the table. You will find I am passionate about building bridges. In couples, this may look like a bridge back to each other, without losing yourself in the process. In parenthood, it’s very similar- how to maintain self-regulation, so you can be available to co-regulate with your kids.

I’m trained in systems and systems theory, which means we’ll be looking at the whole picture of what has gone into the making of you: society, culture, community, family, relationships with others, and connection to self.

I would describe my therapeutic presence as warm, humorous, intuitive, and keen. Through practicing a strengths-based, client-centered approach to therapy, you’ll find the process to be collaborative AND challenging at times, with homework if you want it!

To be effective in this work, I draw from my experience as a wife, mother, stepmother, sister, adult daughter, entrepreneur, and healer. My time in recovery, the queer community, and the local spiritual community, are also personal details that strengthen my therapeutic lens.
